Shen Yun Performing Arts successfully closed the curtain on two performances in Dortmund, Germany, on April 12. Through classical Chinese dance, music, and storytelling,
Shen Yun aims to share the beauty of China before communism. Audience members were deeply touched by their artistry.
“
Shen Yun is a wonderful performance, and anyone who hasn’t experienced it yet must see it. The dancing, the costumes, the stories told, it’s all so heartfelt. Everyone who has been here takes something home with them and definitely has had their life enriched,” said Christian Albrecht, a marketing director.
“It is very impressive and above all, incredibly perfect. It is captivating perfection, and it creates an incredibly well-rounded overall picture,” said Thomas Henke, a piano maker.
“I thought the variety of dances was incredibly great. It was so elegant, it simply radiated so much wonder. I really enjoyed it. The costumes were fantastic, it looked truly amazing. And it radiated a great elegance,” said Verena Gummich, a corporate communications head.
“I found it very beautiful, and I also find this combination with the Chinese instruments beautiful in the orchestra,” said Pia Grebe, a business owner.
Shen Yun draws its inspiration from 5 millennia of traditional Chinese civilization. Ancient Chinese people believed their culture and values to be gifts from the Divine. A culture the Chinese Communist Party has tried to uproot since taking power in 1949. Theatergoers expressed their appreciation for
Shen Yun’s efforts.
“You have to know your values, I think that’s important. That was also conveyed, that you should have certain values and keep them,” Ms. Grebe said.
“I believe that faith is what still brings us together in this world. It’s very important to believe in something and stand up for it,” Ms. Gummich said.
“This journey back to heaven is a destination that everyone is looking forward to, that everyone is searching for, that everyone is longing for. The paths are different, they are shown differently, but the longing was very beautiful to see,” said Holger Röttger, a senior sales manager.
“I think very highly of the mission. I did some research beforehand, and I know that this [performance] is not politically desired and wanted in China, and I certainly support [
Shen Yun],” said Thorsten Hojas, a company CEO and board chairman.
“I simply believe that the whole topic of considering humans as divine beings is simply a topic that should be brought much more to the forefront, because in the end every person has good in them,” Mr. Albrecht said. “I think that carrying on this message, continuing the story, and spreading the feeling that
Shen Yun conveys, I think that’s a wonderful start, and I hope that more campaigns will follow.”
