Shen Yun Performing Arts transported audiences at the Boch Center Wang Theatre in Boston, Massachusetts, to ancient China on April 4, leaving them in awe. Audience members praised the performance for its beauty, inner meaning, and reflection of spirituality.

“Chinese culture has so many positive aspects, but spirituality wasn’t one that I was aware of, the level of spirituality. So I found that really enlightening and eye-opening for us to be here and see how much of the spirituality was represented today,” said Jim Ellard, a former company CEO.

“I’m just so impressed with the skill and discipline to be able to do what they’re doing, and the controlled movements that they have throughout every performance is just incredible,” said Karen Stirling, a real estate agent.

“The amount of sacrifice and dedication these performers put into what they’re doing and their craft. It’s humbling to watch some people that are just so talented do something so amazing,” said Heidi Ellard, a foundation board chair.

Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance company, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese civilization from before communism. Every season, its artists present an all-new program with original dance pieces, music, and backdrops for audiences to enjoy.

“I love the way that they introduce each performance and really articulate what the cultural references are and what the meaning behind the dances and the costuming and even the music. It’s really lovely to see how much thought has gone into these productions and how much meaning comes out of it, how much we’ve learned through just attending the performance tonight,” Ms. Ellard said.

“It’s flying and anti-gravity. ... Absolutely, and beautiful music, beautiful dancing, beautiful singing. I’m impressed,” said Svetlana Solopova, an art historian.

“It’s amazing, it’s more than what we expected. The dances, the colors, the flowing, the choreography is all so beautiful,” said Toyuwa Newton, a banker.

Shen Yun will perform at the San Diego Civic Theatre in San Diego, California, on April 12.
