Shen Yun arrived in Stamford, Connecticut for five performances from April 27 to 30. Theatergoers said it was enlightening.
“Magnificent, one of the greatest spectacular shows I’ve ever seen,” said George Adonis, a real estate broker and investor.
“I absolutely love the show. It was riveting,” said Maggie Delany, the founder of EPN Fashion Week.
“The performance was amazing. The dancing was incredible. The story it told was very enlightening. The musicians were amazing. And the orchestra was just unbelievable,” said Joseph Burns, the managing director of M5 Showroom.
“The performance was phenomenal. It was absolutely incredible. All the people in the show, every single dancer was perfect. They are flexible, their facial expressions, their everything was perfection,” said singer and actress Danielle Hoover.
She says she was also fascinated by a music solo highlighting the erhu, a Chinese instrument. “An amazing musician, what it takes to be able to play that way. The way she moved two fingers and it was just so dynamic. The music was so soft, and then loud, and you could feel everything that she was putting into the instrument. And it was just, it took me to another place, it was gorgeous.”
Others also made comments on the costumes.
“I think the costumes are amazing, the designers who actually created the costumes should definitely get an award, because it really depicted all the costumes of that era and civilization,” Ms. Delany said.
Shen Yun aims to revive China’s 5,000 years of divinely inspired culture—which the communist regime has sought to destroy in modern-day China.
“The ancient Chinese culture is very rich, and the people need to be in touch, remain in touch with it. And I think, if people are being cut off from that, that’s a huge loss for them,” said Hubert Delany, the CEO of Delany Group, LLC.
“What better way to live than in truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance, and that’s something that the show expresses and something that they hope to be brought back to China. And I fervently hope so as well,” said attorney Daniel Marecki.
“It was so thought-provoking. It hit something visceral inside me, I believe some it brings out the divinity in you, in a sense,” said James Hendel, the owner of Turf Science LLC.
“For me, divine inspiration is a big part of my life. So, I feel like it should be a part of everyone’s life,” Ms. Hoover said.
Shen Yun presents new performances every year. Audience members showed their gratitude to the performers.
“I just like to congratulate them, I can imagine all the hard work or the hours, the dedication, all the time away from home from their family, just to be able to perform at this level. I would just like to commend them,” Mr. Adonis said.
“I would suggest that anybody see this show, this show was incredible. So I would tell everybody I know to see the show. This is my first time seeing it and I regret not seeing it earlier,” Mr. Burns said.
“A magical, beautiful experience. And it just leaves you feeling, you know better than just, it was healing. It was beautiful,” Ms. Hoover said. “You were all incredibly talented. I know how hard you worked. I know what it takes to be able to do what you do. And I commend you for an incredible, incredible performance.”
Shen Yun will perform in Newark, New Jersey this week.
