On Monday, China's communist regime deployed its military to surround the island of Taiwan, and carried out live-fire drills. China's military said the drills would continue on Tuesday.
Taiwan condemned the move, adding that it is closely monitoring the situation. A spokesperson for the president's office described China's activities as an open challenge to international law and order.
The official released a statement on Monday saying the drills undermine security in both the Taiwan Strait and the Indo-Pacific. It also said Taiwan's military and security forces are fully on guard, having detected China's moves in advance.
The Chinese regime claims the island as its own, despite the fact that Taiwan is a de facto independent country, with its own military, democratically-elected government, and constitution.
