Influencer siblings Andrew and Tristan Tate have been formally charged in the United Kingdom with rape, human trafficking, and other serious offenses, British prosecutors announced on Wednesday.

This marks the first official confirmation of criminal charges against the brothers in Britain.

The Crown Prosecution Service stated that the charges, which were authorized in January 2024, had not been previously publicized, though media outlets had reported on a UK arrest warrant for the Tates at the time.

Neither Tristan nor Andrew Tate immediately responded to a request for comment from NTD News.

The UK charges stem from alleged offenses that occurred between 2012 and 2015, and were investigated by Bedfordshire Police.

Andrew Tate, 38, faces a total of 10 charges involving three women. These include allegations of rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking, and controlling prostitution for financial gain. His younger brother, Tristan Tate, 36, is charged with 11 offenses relating to one woman, including rape, human trafficking, and actual bodily harm.

Both men, who hold dual citizenship in the United States and the United Kingdom, relocated to Romania in 2016. They rose to international prominence as former professional kickboxers and later as social media personalities, amassing millions of followers.

Andrew Tate on May 28 addressed the charges on the X social media platform in response to a BBC report.

“So Romania failed now england tries ... They do this to any man who fights against them. Never give up men. Never give in. Do not be scared.”

The brothers have previously said they “unequivocally deny” the UK charges.

In late 2022, Romanian authorities arrested the Tates and, in 2023, formally indicted them on charges of participating in a criminal organization that allegedly lured women to Romania for sexual exploitation. Andrew Tate also faces a rape charge in Romania.

Both brothers deny all allegations made against them in the Romanian case. The case is still pending a final verdict.

The brothers in 2023 also filed a defamation lawsuit in Florida against a "Jane Doe" and another individual whom they allege conspired to defraud and wrongfully imprison them by providing false evidence to the Romanian authorities. Doe responded with a countersuit. The case was accepted by a Florida judge in July 2024 and is ongoing.

British prosecutors said that a Romanian court has authorized a European arrest warrant for the extradition of the Tate brothers to the UK once their ongoing legal proceedings in Romania are concluded.

The current whereabouts of the brothers remain unclear. However, they were photographed outside a police station in Voluntari, Romania, last week, where they are required to report regularly as part of their legal obligations while facing charges there.

The Crown Prosecution Service said that this is the first time it has confirmed the criminal charges against the Tate brothers in Britain, after the earlier issuance of an arrest warrant by Bedfordshire Police.
