Samson International has recalled thousands of bed frames sold on Costco's website after several customers reported being injured in incidents involving the bed canopy collapsing, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The federal agency announced last week that roughly 5,600 Universal Broadmoor brand bed frames sold across the country, as well as about 516 units sold in Canada, are being recalled after Samson International received five reports of consumers being struck by the overhead canopy beam—four of which resulted in shoulder and head contusion injuries.

"The canopy beams of the bed frames can collapse primarily when the bed is moved, posing impact and injury hazards to consumers," the notice reads.

The affected Bellevue and Oaklynn bed frames were available in king and queen sizes and featured one of the four model numbers: M24109230, M24109240, M24107230, and M24107240. The Samson International name is listed beside the model number on the manufacturing label inside the frame on the right-hand side when facing the foot of the bed.

The units, which were manufactured in Vietnam, were sold on Costco.com from October 2024 through February 2026, with prices ranging between $900 and $1,000.

The safety commission said consumers should not move the recalled bed frames and instead contact Samson International immediately for a free repair and installation kit, which includes four metal brackets and mounting hardware.

Bed-related products sold at Costco have been recalled previously. In 2023, nearly 50,000 of FXI's Novaform mattresses sold at the wholesale club were pulled due to possible mold exposure.

At the time, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said the mattresses may have been exposed to water during manufacturing, which could allow mold to grow and pose health risks to those with compromised immune systems, damaged lungs, or mold allergies. According to the agency, FXI received more than 500 complaints of mold, though no injuries were reported.
More recently, in 2024, Costco alerted members to a recall of a Medline Bed Assist Bar sold between June 2014 and February 2019, urging customers to stop using the product and return it for a full refund.

The wholesale club said people could become trapped between the bar and the mattress, creating a risk of injury or death by asphyxiation, noting that Medline was aware of two people dying in the United States as a result of this issue—one in July 2019 and another in November 2023.

NTD reached out to Costco for comment about the recent bed frame recall, but did not receive a response by publication time.
