Trader Joe’s is recalling additional frozen products after a supplier expanded a nationwide recall to include more than 33 million pounds of Ajinomoto Foods North America frozen meals that may contain glass.

Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc., a Portland-based company that supplies frozen meals under several brand names, said it is recalling nearly 37 million pounds of ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat chicken and pork products, including fried rice, ramen, and shu mai dumplings.

The expansion adds about 33.6 million pounds to the 3.4 million initially recalled on Feb. 19, according to the company and a March 3 notice from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The recalled products were produced between Oct. 21, 2024, and Feb. 26, 2026, and sold under labels that include Ajinomoto, Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s. The recalled foods bear establishment numbers P-18356, P-18356B, or P-47971 inside the USDA inspection mark and were distributed to retailers nationwide. Some Ajinomoto items were also exported to Canada and Mexico.

The recall expansion came after multiple consumer complaints about glass pieces found in the frozen products, Ajinomoto told federal regulators. The company’s investigation traced the contamination to a vegetable supplier—specifically to carrots—which were used in a wide range of its recipes.

So far, no injuries have been confirmed. Customers are urged not to eat the recalled products and to throw them away or return them to the store. Officials advised anyone concerned to contact a healthcare provider

Federal officials also cautioned that some products “may be in retailers’ or consumers’ freezers” and reminded consumers that distribution lists will continue to be posted at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls as updates become available.

In connection with Ajinomoto’s expanded recall, Trader Joe’s said on March 3 it is voluntarily pulling additional frozen products “in an abundance of caution.” The grocer listed several of its popular items—Chicken Fried Rice, Vegetable Fried Rice, Japanese Style Fried Rice, and Chicken Shu Mai—with best-by dates ranging from Feb. 28, 2026, through Feb. 10, 2027.

“If you have packages of the products listed above, please do not use them,” Trader Joe’s advised customers in its statement. “Please discard the product or return it to any Trader Joe’s for a full refund.”

Consumers can contact Trader Joe’s Customer Relations at (626) 599-3817 on weekdays between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. PT or reach out online through its website.

The grocer’s announcement follows its Feb. 20 recall of certain lot codes of Trader Joe’s Chicken Fried Rice (SKU 33251) with best-by dates between Sept. 8 and Nov. 17, 2026. That earlier recall was also related to potential glass contamination originating from Ajinomoto’s products.

Ajinomoto also recalled its six-bag cartons of Yakitori Chicken with Japanese-Style Fried Rice sold in Canada. That problem, too, was discovered after four consumers reported finding glass in the products.
