Most Favored Nation (MFN) agreements are contributing to an increase in pharmaceutical discounts on the TrumpRx portal, according to President Donald Trump.

MFN agreements are international pricing models negotiated by the Trump administration that motivate global pharmaceutical companies to match their lowest international prices for the U.S. market under the threat of 50 percent import tariffs.

“We recently added nearly one thousand low-cost generics,” Trump said.

Trump gave the remarks during an openly streamed cabinet meeting at the White House on May 27.

He was flanked by Vice President JD Vance, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

“It's one of the biggest things ever to happen in our country,” Trump said of MFN agreements. “Certainly, as to anything having to do with medical, because we’re delivering record-setting discounts on prescription drugs with price differences of 400 percent, 500 percent, and even 600 percent.”

While MFN agreements force drug manufacturers to lower their baseline pricing, TrumpRx.gov is the platform where patients can locate and compare the discounted prices offered by participating companies.

TrumpRx was launched in February and so far has secured voluntary MFN pricing agreements with 17 of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers, including Pfizer, Regeneron, Novo Nordisk, and Eli Lilly.

“We paid the highest prices anywhere in the world,” Trump said on Wednesday. “Now, we're paying the lowest prices anywhere in the world. For health care, you know, so much of it is prescription drug prices and with them coming down, the health care is going to come down very substantially.”

The Ozempic weight loss drug, for example, costs $1,027.51 without a prescription, and on TrumpRx, it sells for $199. The original price of Wegovy’s weight loss drug is $1,349.02, and on TrumpRx, it sells for $149.

Zepbound, used to treat weight loss and symptoms of sleep apnea, is listed as discounted by 40 percent on TrumpRx without a prescription.

“It’s the hottest site I think anywhere on the planet, from what I understand,” Trump said. “It’s really great. People are calling up and they're buying drugs for a fraction, for literally a fraction of the price.”

Trump worked closely with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz and Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to establish the direct-to-consumer platform.

“This name [TrumpRx] was not given by me," Trump added. "This was given by Dr. Oz and Bobby and I, you know, wasn't sure whether or not I love the idea, but they said we want to use Trump … TrumpRx.gov.”
