Two lottery players—one in Kansas and one in Indiana—beat the odds on Wednesday night and split a $143 million Powerball jackpot, concluding a drawing that minted nearly 90 new millionaires across the country.
Tuesday's win is the fourth Powerball jackpot claimed in 2026 alone. The year opened with a $209.3 million prize claimed by a North Carolina player on Jan. 21. A $250.8 million jackpot followed on March 2, won by a player in Arkansas; and a Delaware player walked away with $231 million prize on April 6—less than a month ago.
Beyond the two jackpot winners, 89 players across 20 states became millionaires. Twenty-seven matched all five white balls and included the Power Play multiplier, earning the $2 million prize. Another 62 matched the five white balls without the multiplier, each taking home $1 million.
The winning numbers drawn on Wednesday, April 29, were 3, 19, 35, 51 and 67, with a Powerball of 15. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.
The $2 million prizes were spread across Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. Indiana and Louisiana each produced five of those winners, while New Jersey had four.
The $1 million prizes were distributed across Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Indiana and New Jersey each led with 14 winners in that tier.
NTD News has contacted Powerball for additional comment on the dozens of winners.
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are available in 45 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Players select five numbers from a white ball pool of 1 to 69 and one red Powerball number ranging from 1 to 26. An optional Power Play add-on, available for $1, can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X or 10X. Drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights.
The game is not limited to U.S. citizens. Anyone of legal age—typically 18—visiting a participating jurisdiction can buy a ticket at any licensed retailer, regardless of their nationality.
Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah are the only states that do not participate in Powerball.
The largest Powerball jackpot ever drawn was $2.04 billion and was won on Nov. 7, 2022, in California. The second-largest was a $1.817 billion prize won in Arkansas on Dec. 24, 2025, followed by a $1.787 billion jackpot split between Missouri and Texas on Sept. 6, 2025.
With the jackpot now reset following Tuesday's win, players who missed out can try again—the pot will grow until someone matches all six numbers.
