British Prime Minister Keir Starmer headed to China on Tuesday, becoming the first UK leader to visit in eight years.

He will be joined by 60 leaders from British businesses, universities, and cultural institutions.

Starmer is aiming to secure more Chinese investment in the UK. He's also trying to get more access to Chinese markets for British financial services, cars, and Scotch whiskey.

The China visit comes as Britain's economy is facing a slowdown, with GDP growing at just 0.1 percent in the third quarter last year.

Meanwhile, Starmer's also facing leadership challenges. He has a fine line to walk, balancing relations with China, the United States, and the European Union.
