A big win for America in the critical minerals race with China. A U.S. firm has acquired one of the world’s largest cobalt producers, located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is one of the few remaining mines not already in China’s hands.
American company Virtus Minerals is buying mining company Chemaf for $30 million. The company’s mining operations are capable of producing around 5 percent of the world’s cobalt.
