More than 50,000 adjustable dumbbells sold at Walmart have been recalled nationwide after federal safety officials received more than 115 reports of weight plates detaching during use, creating a risk of serious injury.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on April 23 for the FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select 5–52.5 lb. Adjustable Dumbbells. The dumbbells were imported by New York-based Tzumi Electronics Inc. The dumbbells were sold at Walmart stores and online at Walmart.com.

According to the CPSC, the dumbbells pose an impact hazard because the weight plates can dislodge from the handles during use, causing injuries.

The CPSC has received more than 115 reports of the plates coming loose, with at least six injuries confirmed so far. Injuries include broken toes, bruises, contusions, and lacerations.

The recall involves the FitRx SmartBell Quick-Select Adjustable Dumbbells, model 8361, with serial numbers KK23288361 through KK23388361 and KK207608361 through KK21347836.

The dumbbells adjust from 5 to 52.5 pounds in 2.5- or 5-pound increments, are black with red accents, and include a molded plastic storage tray. The “FitRx” logo appears on both the handles and the tray.

The dumbbells were sold for about $100 at Walmart stores and online from January 2024 through November 2024, according to the recall notice.

Consumers are urged to immediately stop using the recalled dumbbells. The recall notice states that a free replacement is available and that consumers can contact Tzumi Electronics to request one.

The dumbbells were manufactured in China and imported by Tzumi Electronics Inc. of New York.

In a separate recall announced the same day, the CPSC said more than 207,000 pairs of heated socks sold under the 32 Degrees brand have been recalled due to a burn hazard.

The recalled socks were sold at Costco stores nationwide and online from August 2025 through March 2026 for between $30 and $46.

The CPSC said the 32 Degrees Heated Socks can cause injuries when worn during high-intensity activities that generate heat, friction, moisture, and pressure. The recall notice warned that the conditions can lead to burns.

There have been 14 reported incidents tied to the socks, including 13 cases involving first- or second-degree burns.

The socks were imported by David Peyser Sportswear, doing business as 32 Degrees, and manufactured in China.

They were sold in black and came in medium, large, and extra-large sizes, with “32° HEAT” printed on the battery pack and packaging.

Consumers are advised to stop using the socks immediately. The recall notice says that customers can return the socks to Costco for a full refund.
