A number of major grocery store chains will close their doors this Sunday in observance of Easter, an important holiday in the Christian faith that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
With Easter being a day when many families gather and celebrate, shoppers are advised to check with their local stores for specific hours, as hours may vary at some locations. Whole Foods, for instance, recommends using its store locator tool to confirm local hours.
Stores Closed on Easter
Costco, Aldi, Publix, and Target are among the major retailers that will be closed all day on Sunday, according to information found on the businesses’ websites and statements to news outlets.Stores Operating with Limited or Modified Hours
Some grocery chains will be open for reduced hours. Whole Foods, for example, will open at its usual time but will close early at 6 p.m. local time, with a few exceptions, according to the company’s website and information from their store locator.Stores Open Regular Hours
Many grocery stores will remain open and continue to serve customers on Easter Sunday.Walmart, the nation’s largest retailer, will be open during its regular hours, a company spokesperson confirmed to NTD News.
Most stores in the Kroger family of companies—including Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick’n Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler, and Smith’s Food and Drug—will also be open on Sunday, according to statements to the media and store websites.
A spokesperson for Albertsons Companies told NTD News that a majority of their banner stores, including Safeway, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Vons, and Tom Thumb, are open on Easter. However, they recommended checking with your local banner store for pharmacy hours.
Trader Joe's also remains open, according to the store’s website.
Meijer, Food Lion, Lidl, Harris Teeter, Wegman’s, Harveys, and Winn-Dixie will also be open, according to numerous reports.
