Organizers of the United States Army’s military parade have released new details on next week’s historic event.

A timeline of the festivities to commemorate the Army’s 250th birthday on June 14 has been made public, showing that the parade procession will take place from 6:30 p.m. ET to 9:30 p.m. ET, according to the event’s official <a href="https://america250.org/news/the-united-states-of-america-to-honor-the-250th-anniversary-of-the-u-s-army-with-a-grand-military-parade-and-celebration-in-washington-d-c/">website</a>.

The route will roll through Constitution Ave NW between 15th Street and 23rd Street, organizers said. 6,600 soldiers, 150 vehicles, and 50 helicopters will follow the parade route from Arlington, Virginia, to the National Mall.

“Join us in D.C. on Sat., June 14 for an unforgettable celebration of 250 years of the U.S. Army—the greatest fighting force in the history of the world,” Trump wrote on <a href="https://x.com/WhiteHouse/status/1930785768836149522">X.</a>

“We're marking this historic milestone with a once-in-a-lifetime military parade.”

Tracing the Army's evolution from the Revolutionary War, parade attendees will experience 250 years of the Army's heritage through historical reenactments and equipment, flyovers, and military bands.

"This historic event will commemorate the legacy and enduring strength of the U.S. Army, while looking boldly toward the next 250 years of American patriotism and technological advancement,” according to the event’s official <a href="https://america250.org/news/the-united-states-of-america-to-honor-the-250th-anniversary-of-the-u-s-army-with-a-grand-military-parade-and-celebration-in-washington-d-c/">website</a>. “The event is designed not only to showcase the Army’s modern capabilities but also to inspire a new generation to embrace the spirit of service, resilience, and leadership that defines the United States.”

Since there will be aircraft flyovers and fireworks during the Army event and during the peak of the celebration, the Federal Aviation Administration said it would halt all arrivals and departures at Washington’s Reagan National Airport.

The late afternoon event, intended to commemorate the Army’s birthday, happens to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday.

Trump has long expressed his desire for the United States to host a big parade. During his first term, Trump pitched the idea of a parade after watching a two-hour procession in France along the Champs-Élysées for Bastille Day in 2017. He ultimately scrapped the plans due to costs and logistical issues, blaming the local politicians for price gouging.

“When asked to give us a price for holding a great celebratory military parade, they wanted a number so ridiculously high that I cancelled it. Never let someone hold you up! I will instead,” Trump wrote in an August 2018 post on <a href="https://x.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1030423480725118976?lang=en">X.</a>

City officials argued that the large tanks and heavy armored vehicles would damage the roads.  The Army plans to place large metal plates at key points on the streets to protect the pavement from the movements of 25 M1 Abrams main battle tanks that will roll through the capital during the event.

The parade, which will be classified as a national special security event, is estimated to cost around $45 million.

Congress members argued that the money could be better spent on other priorities for troops.

Army leaders defended spending that much in order to add a parade to the 250th birthday celebration, saying it would serve as a vital tool to attract more potential recruits. The Army is on track to meet its annual recruiting goals well ahead of schedule, according to event organizers, with more than 85 percent of its 2025 target already achieved.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the U.S. Army has been restored to strength and readiness,” the event website states. “His America First agenda has delivered historic pay raises for service members, rebuilt military stockpiles, invested in cutting-edge technologies, and ensured our soldiers have the tools and support they need to win on any battlefield.”

In addition to a historic parade, the Army birthday festival will include musical performances and a fitness competition on the National Mall starting at 8 a.m.

Trump is also scheduled to deliver remarks at next week’s historic celebration.
