When asked by a reporter at a Monday press briefing if President Joe Biden would support legislation to fight against squatters invading American homes, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre told attending journalists the administration considers the problem to be a “local issue.”
The exchange comes after a recent incident in New York City made news when a property owner was arrested by police as she changed the locks to keep squatters from reentering her house after she had told them to leave.
