At least 10 people were hurt Thursday after gunshots erupted inside the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge.
Two groups shot at each other inside the food court after an argument escalated, Baton Rouge Police Chief TJ Morse said. Innocent bystanders were caught in the crossfire. "Unfortunately there were some innocent people in the area who might have also caught some rounds," Morse said.
Mayor Sid Edwards warned the perpetrators: "To the thugs that did this, we're going to catch you."
Morse told reporters the scene was secured. "Right now there is no known threat to the public," he said. Authorities are urging anyone with video footage of the shooting to come forward.
Edwards confirmed in a series of posts on X that there are at least 10 victims, all of whom are currently at city hospitals. He said all civilians have been safely escorted out of the mall.
