Katie Slaton, who appeared on TLC's reality series "1000-Lb. Sisters," passed away on Monday at age 37 after battling stage 4 cancer, according to her obituary and family social media posts.

Slaton passed away Aug. 25, 2025, at Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She was born Sept. 17, 1987, in Morganfield, Kentucky, to Jerry and Frances Slaton.

The reality television personality made appearances on "1000-Lb. Sisters" alongside her cousins, most notably during Season 5. The show's seventh season ended in June.

Amanda Halterman, Slaton's cousin, announced the death on Instagram on Tuesday.

"It is with a completely crushed heart and spirit that I have to post this. My little cousin went to sit at the feet of Jesus yesterday," Halterman wrote. "She was a force to be reckoned with and showed love that was accepting and given freely. She was the life of the party and my best friend."

Halterman requested prayers for the family, writing: "Please pray for my aunt uncle and cousins but mostly for the babies and for Natalie to be strong. Please pray for everyone whom loves her."

She also shared a short video set to the song "Dancing in the Sky" by Dani and Lizzy, which features lyrics about wondering about the afterlife.

Slaton's cancer diagnosis became public knowledge in January when family members shared a GoFundMe campaign to assist with medical expenses. The campaign noted that the "family just found out" about her diagnosis and sought to raise $100,000 for treatment costs.

As of Aug. 28, the campaign had raised just over $2,300 over an initial $14,000 goal.

The fundraising page detailed extensive medical expenses, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, travel costs for treatment, and living expenses during her illness.

According to her obituary, Slaton enjoyed fishing, music, and spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her parents Jerry and Frances Slaton of Morganfield; brothers Jeremiah Slaton and wife Marci of Morganfield, and Jesse Slaton and wife Erica of Morganfield; partner Natalie Bailie of Madisonville; and children Landon, Liam, and Lily, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, with Rev. Cole Caven officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Burial will take place at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Morganfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Linda White Hospice, 611 Harriet St., Evansville, IN 47710.

Tammy and Amy Slaton, the show's main stars, have not yet commented on their cousin's death.
