Three members of the family from TLC's reality series "Meet the Putmans" were killed in a car accident in Michigan, their family said in a statement released Saturday.

Bill Putman, his wife, Barb, and their daughter-in-law Megan died in a "tragic car accident," according to a Facebook post from the Putman family. Five additional family members—Blake, Lulu, Alena, Noah, and Gia—sustained injuries and remain hospitalized.

The Tuscola County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to a request for additional information on the crash.

The Putman family gained national attention in 2017 when TLC featured their unconventional living arrangement in the reality show "Meet the Putmans." The six-episode series documented the lives of 25 family members who shared a single home in Michigan.

The program showcased Bill and Barb Putman alongside their four adult children—Billy, Brandon, Blake, and Blair—their spouses, and 15 grandchildren living together under one roof. The family later appeared in a YouTube series titled "Growing Up Putman" in 2021.

"Growing up, we never said, 'Hey, let's live together. Let's try and find wives that will stay in the house' or anything like that," Brandon Putman said in the first episode of the YouTube series. "It's just something that happened."

Bill Putman explained their philosophy during the show: "We're reincarnating the old family, where everybody took care of everybody, you combined your finances for one vision. It's a beautiful thing, and it works."

According to updates posted on social media, the family members who survived the crash face varying injuries. Noah remains sedated but has shown encouraging signs of responsiveness through movement. Gia underwent a craniotomy procedure, with medical teams reporting a significant reduction in brain pressure.

In a heartfelt message, family member Isabelle listed all 30 family members by name and declared their Christian beliefs during this difficult time.

"My entire family ... all proclaim that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior," Isabelle wrote. "He is our hope, our peace, and our salvation. Even in this time of heartbreak, we rest in knowing that God is in control."

The family has requested continued prayers for the recovering members and said they were grateful for the support they have received. They referenced biblical passages including John 14:27 and Romans 8:28 in their public statements.

"Because of that sacrifice, we know Papa, Neenee, and Aunt Megan are not gone forever," the family wrote. "They are alive and whole in Heaven, standing before Jesus, hearing the words we all long to hear: 'Well done, my good and faithful servant.'"
