Authorities in Florida are investigating after four family members, including two young children, were killed in a shooting at two residences in Hillsborough County over the weekend.
Responding officers also located the children's 28-year-old mother, who was taken to a local hospital and later died from her injuries. A third child was found inside the home, but was not injured, the Plant City Police Department said.
During the course of their investigation, detectives later discovered a fourth victim at a second location just a few blocks away in the 900 block of North Burton Street. The 55-year-old woman—who was the mother of the 28-year-old—also suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jody Kott, a neighbor who lives on West Tever Street, told Fox 13 she was traumatized after watching paramedics take away the victims from the scene.
The identities of the four victims have not been released, and no arrests have been made in connection with the quadruple homicide. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said additional details about the incident are being withheld at this time. NTD reached out to the police department for additional comment, but a response was not received by publication time.
Following the killings, detectives are asking for the public's help as they continue to generate leads in the case.
"Some of the people traveled on foot between North Burton Street and the West Tever Street locations during the early morning hours," police said.
Authorities have urged neighbors who live near either of the residences in question to review any available surveillance or doorbell camera footage between the hours of 5:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. on May 3.
"Check for any video showing a woman walking with three young children in the vicinity of North Burton Street, West Tever Street, or the surrounding area," officials said.
