Actor Alec Baldwin and his brother Stephen Baldwin were involved in a car crash Monday in East Hampton, New York, when Alec crashed their Range Rover head-on into a tree.
The images show extensive damage to the front end of the SUV from the impact.
A garbage truck was also seen nearby, though the trucking company told TMZ, who was first to report the news, that their driver was not responsible for the crash.
"To avoid hitting him, I hit a big fat tree and crushed my wife's car, I feel bad about that but it's all fine. I'm fine and my brother's fine. Thank you to the East Hampton Police Department and the town police department for coming to my aid," he said.
The East Hampton Police Department did not immediately respond to requests for information about the incident. Representatives for both Alec and Stephen Baldwin also have not responded to questions regarding the accident from NTD News.
The crash adds to a series of challenging events for the Oscar-nominated actor in recent years. Baldwin's troubles began with the October 2021 shooting incident on the "Rust" film set, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was shot dead when a revolver Baldwin was handling discharged during a rehearsal outside Santa Fe.
A New Mexico judge had dismissed involuntary manslaughter charges against Baldwin in July, ruling that prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense team. In October 2024, state District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer upheld the dismissal, stating that prosecutors failed to present factual or legal arguments justifying a reversal of her ruling.
"Because the state's amended motion raises arguments previously made, and arguments that the state elected not to raise earlier, the court does not find the amended motion well taken," Judge Marlowe Sommer wrote in her ruling. She also noted the prosecution's request was untimely.
Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey disagreed with the court's analysis and planned to appeal the ruling. The case was dismissed after news that the ammunition potentially related to Hutchins' death was brought to the Santa Fe County sheriff's office but was not properly disclosed to Baldwin's defense attorneys.
Baldwin alleged he pulled back the revolver's hammer but not the trigger when the weapon fired, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.
Earlier this year, Baldwin faced additional controversies. In February, he confronted a Donald Trump impersonator who approached him on a New York City street regarding the "Rust" case. The following month, attorney Gloria Allred, representing Hutchins' family, criticized Baldwin's TLC reality show "The Baldwins," stating he celebrated time with his children while ignoring that he had taken a child away from Hutchins' parents.
Movie weapons supervisor Hannah Gutierrez-Reed received the maximum sentence of 18 months in state prison for involuntary manslaughter in Hutchins' death.
