On Aug. 29, major Chinese Airbnb-style rental platforms removed their listings in Beijing in accordance with an order reportedly prompted by city authorities.
According to local media reports, city officials summoned nine short-term rental platforms for a meeting early last week.
During the talks, they ordered the platforms to remove so-called “non-compliant properties” in the city within seven days—except rural listings.
