Best Buy has recalled thousands of Insignia Front Control Gas Ranges over concerns the appliances could pose a potential fire hazard to customers.

According to a notice from the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the voluntary recall, announced on July 9, involves about 3,820 Insignia Front Control Gas Ranges sold nationwide and online, along with roughly 700 units sold in Canada.

The agency said the affected ranges' front-mounted knobs can be accidentally activated by consumers or pets, posing a risk of serious injury from a fire hazard.

"The firm has received one report of the knobs being activated by accidental contact," the commission added. "No injuries have been reported."

The recalled Insignia gas appliances were sold from November 2020 through March 2026 and were priced between $280 and $1,470. The affected units were manufactured in China and feature the model numbers NS-RGFGSS1 and NS-RGFCGS2.

The ranges are stainless steel and have five front knobs, with the "Insignia" logo displayed on the bottom of the oven door. A label with the model number can be found on the inside of the range’s bottom drawer.

The CPSC has urged those who have one of the affected ranges to stop using it immediately.

"Consumers are cautioned to keep children and pets away from the knobs, to check the range knobs to ensure they are off before leaving home or going to bed, and not to leave objects on the range when the range is not in use," the agency said.

Customers can visit Best Buy’s official recall website to complete an online registration form for the recall.

Best Buy said a purchase receipt is not required to register. After confirming the gas range is part of the recall, the electronics company will provide consumers with a free set of compatible knob covers, along with instructions on how to replace them.

More than 430 Fisher & Paykel gas ranges sold nationwide, and 70 units sold in Canada, were previously recalled in April for posing a burn hazard to consumers. According to a CPSC notice, the ranges' ovens may fail to ignite immediately and cause gas to build up, resulting in a sudden combustion that could push the oven door open.
Nearly 175,000 Frigidaire gas ranges sold in the United States, along with 5,300 sold in Canada, were recalled in March for a similar issue. The CPSC said the ovens' bake burners could also experience a delayed ignition, creating a possible burn hazard when being used.
