University of Manitoba Professor Emeritus Maria Cheung detailed ongoing human rights abuses targeting Falun Gong practitioners in China—and the Chinese Communist Party’s growing campaign to surveil and discredit the group overseas.

Cheung, who has studied the persecution for decades, said the CCP’s tactics range from forced labor and psychological torture to transnational repression and propaganda aimed at erasing Falun Gong’s peaceful teachings of truth, compassion, and tolerance, noting the issue remains gravely underreported in the West.
