“Clueless” star Stacey Dash was bailed out by her husband from Land-O-Lakes Detention Facility in Pasco County, Florida, on the morning of Sep. 30.
Dash, 52, was arrested in Florida on Sep. 29 for alleged domestic battery against her husband Jeffrey Marty, according to Pasco County Court records obtained by Page Six.
Marty, who is Dash’s fourth husband, paid $500 to bail Dash out.
According to a police report, the couple got into a verbal argument and Dash pushed, slapped, and scratched her husband.
Dash’s manager, Sean P. Jackson, said that Dash retaliated physically because Marty was choking her.
“Stacey actually called the police because she was attacked by her husband. He choked her and she was defending herself,” Jackson told People magazine. “When the police arrived, they couldn’t see any physical marks on her, but they did see them on him.”
Dash said in a statement following the arrest that she and her husband “had a marital dispute” at their house in Port Richie.
“No charges were pressed by her husband, however, Deputies arrested Ms. Dash peacefully, as a formality,” the statement read. “Ms. Dash’s husband appeared in court today, September 30th, on her behalf and Ms. Dash was released from the Land O’ Lakes detention facility. No further legal action is pending.”
“The marital dispute, while personal and unfortunate, has since been blown out of proportion. An earlier report on TMZ.com said her manager told TMZ that she was attacked by her husband—both the sources relationship to Ms. Dash and the events of the evening were misrepresented.”
“Ms. Dash is a domestic abuse survivor from a previous relationship and has championed for other abuse victims to speak up,” the statement added. “The untruthfulness being reported saddens Ms. Dash and her family—no further comments will be made and we ask that Ms. Dash and her family’s privacy will be respected.”
In an audio recording of Dash talking to the 911 dispatch, she said that Marty put her in a chokehold because she told his daughter to get out of her face. The fight apparently started because Dash was trying to have her stepdaughter to do her homework.
The arrest was captured via a police body camera.
Dash was asked what her profession was, and she replied that she appeared in movies and TV.
“What are you doing?” Dash asked the police officer while the Pasco County deputy told her to turn around before handcuffing her.
She and the police officer had a calm exchange as she was taken to the police car, telling him she was taking a break from acting and that she did politics for a while.
“I did politics for a while. I was a Fox News contributor,” she says. “Oh, OK. Pretty cool,” the officer said.
