"Counting On" and "19 Kids and Counting" star, Joy-Anna Duggar Forsyth, has suffered a miscarriage.
On Wednesday, July 3, Forsyth shared the tragic news on her Instagram account.
"Today marks one week since we heard these words… 'So this is your baby’s heart (pointing to the ultrasound screen). I don't hear a heartbeat or see any movement," Joy-Anna wrote in the post, alongside a black-and-white photo of her and her husband on a hospital bed.
"We had gone in for our 20-week ultrasound and gender reveal. It was a baby girl," she continued.
"Although we don’t understand why, God has given us unexplainable peace and comfort during this very difficult time," she added.
She also revealed the name they chose for the baby girl.
"We named her Annabell Elise. Annabell means 'God has favored me,' and Elise means 'God satisfies.' What a precious thing to know that when our daughter opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was the face of Jesus," she wrote. "Please pray for continued healing, not only physically but for our hearts as well."
The two are parents to 18-month-old Gideon.
"A new baby will bring even more joy and blessings to their lives and ours. We are on cloud nine that another grandbaby will make a debut in 2019!," Joy-Anna's parents Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar wrote.
The baby girl was due in November.
The family issued a statement on Facebook following the news.
"We were so sad to hear that Joy and Austin's baby girl passed away mid-way through their pregnancy. The pain of losing a child is unimaginable. Yet, for the one whose hope is in God, there is a peace that surpasses our finite understanding. We pray that God will comfort Joy and Austin and carry them through this difficult time," Joy-Anna's parents wrote.
Following the news, several family members commented on their post.
"Heartbroken over your loss. We are so thankful for the joy her life brought and we look forward to seeing Annabel when we see Jesus in heaven. Love you so much Joy and Austin!" Anna Duggar, who is currently expecting her sixth child, commented.
