A South Carolina man is in police custody after authorities say he allegedly fatally shot a teen after previously firing into her home, an incident that was captured on doorbell video.
Sean Hubbard, 34, of Clover, was arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the May 16 shooting at a home in Rock Hill, Lt. Michael Chavis with the Rock Hill Police Department told NTD via email Thursday.
Officers responded to the residence on the 700 block of Mount Gallant Road after receiving reports that gunshots had been fired at the home around 11 p.m. Chavis said police found an 18-year-old woman on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound upon their arrival. She ultimately died from her injuries.
The Rock Hill Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division and Forensic Services Unit also responded to the scene. Detectives later identified Hubbard as the suspect, and he was subsequently apprehended.
Chavis said Hubbard was also charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling after allegedly shooting into the teen's home earlier in the day when no one was inside.
"We did keep officers in that area for a while to continue to circulate and look for the car," he said. "But unfortunately he managed to come back, get back to the house on foot and shoot at 11 o’clock, which killed our victim."
Authorities did not release the teen's name. However, local media reports identified her as Camariya Tidwell, listing her age as 19.
Tidwell's mother, Shifarnia McCullough, told WCNC that the home had also been shot into days earlier on May 12, prompting the family to install the security cameras.
Family members told the station that Hubbard had been hired through social media to work on a relative's car, but was later asked not to continue.
"I told him that I didn’t want him to work on my car," Tidwell's cousin, Jamya McCullough, told the station. "This man threatened me and I immediately blocked him."
Hubbard appeared in court on May 17, where he was denied bail. He is being held at the York County Detention Center, and it's unclear when his next hearing is scheduled.
