Elijah Cummings’s wife posted photos on Twitter that showed a burglar breaking into their Baltimore home last month.

Rep. Elijah Cummings’s wife, Maya Rockeymoore Cummings, took to Twitter on Saturday, Aug. 10, in an attempt to track down the alleged perpetrator that attempted to break into the couple’s Druid Heights home in the northwest of Baltimore at around 3:40 a.m. on July 27.

The photos, taken from stills of the surveillance footage, show a dark-skinned man in black wearing a dark blue baseball cap with a red arched logo. It also shows the man leaving the compound on his bicycle. The pictures are too vague to draw clear-cut conclusions on the man’s identity.

The attempted burglary heralded a not so lucky day for Cummings because it came just hours before President Trump called out the Maryland Governor. He stated that the Baltimore district Cummings is responsible for is a “disgusting, rat and rodent-infested mess,” where “no human being would want to live.”

He further said, “if racist Elijah Cummings would focus more of his energy on helping the good people of his district, and Baltimore itself, perhaps progress could be made in fixing the mess.” He further called it the “worst-run and most dangerous” district.

“We are a great community,” Cummings said. “Come to Baltimore. Do not just criticize us, but come to Baltimore and I promise you, you will be welcomed,” he said.

Cummings shared the news of the burglary in a statement saying, “An individual attempted to gain entry into my residence at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Saturday, July 27,” Roll Call reported.

“I was notified of the intrusion by my security system, and I scared the intruder away by yelling before the person gained entry into the residential portion of the house,” he said.

The president responded: “Really bad news! The Baltimore house of Elijah Cummings was robbed. Too bad!”

On July 29, the president accused Cummings of embezzling $16 billion.

Trump: $16 Billion to Baltimore Was ‘Stolen or Wasted, Ask Elijah Cummings Where it Went.’

The federal government has sent billions of dollars to Baltimore in recent years, but the money has been either “stolen or wasted,” President Donald Trump said late July 29.

Writing on Twitter, Trump wrote: “Baltimore’s numbers are the worst in the United States on Crime and the Economy. Billions of dollars have been pumped in over the years but to no avail. The money was stolen or wasted.”

“Ask Elijah Cummings, where it went. He should investigate himself with his Oversight Committee!” Trump added, referring to the Democratic Maryland representative, who is chairman of the House Oversight Committee.
