A husband who learned of his wife's affair is accused of killing her with a corn rake in Iowa. Before her death, the woman left clues with a lover and friends describing the possible danger to her life if her husband were to uncover the affair.
Todd called 911 reporting that his son found her impaled and hunched over, and that no one had seen what happened to her, according to People. However, upon investigation medical examiners noticed that the rake was four-pronged; but Amy had six puncture wounds.
Emergency Rush and Marital Problems
Todd told the police that he rushed his wife to the hospital after removing the rake from her body. On their way, an ambulance met them and transported Amy to the hospital, according to People. She was later pronounced dead.Authorities found that the couple had been having marital problems and that Amy had been caught cheating with another man. She disclosed her worries with her friends and her lover.
"You'll know Todd did something to me," she allegedly told a friend in case she vanished, according to People. "If he catches me, he might make me disappear," she allegedly told one of her lovers. That lover said in an interview with investigators that Amy was "scared to death" of him.
Interviews With Friends and Family
In an interview, a friend of Amy Mullis said that after Todd learned of the affair in 2018, one of their three children was crying and did not want to get on a bus because the child did not know of what may happen to the mother, according to Dyersville Commercial.Amy's brother Jeff Fuller said in an interview that Amy was planning to move out and leave her husband.
Another friend of Amy's told Dyersville Commercial that after Amy's alleged murder, Todd visited to say, "You really have to watch what you text on your phone because it could come back to bite you."
The spokesman of the case told People that Todd's iPad had also revealed incriminating evidence when investigated. Searches such as "what happened to cheating spouses in historic Aztec tribes," "organs in the body," and "killing unfaithful women," were found.
Todd has a hearing on March 8. He currently being held on $5 million cash bail.
