Kai Trump has shared an encouraging update on her mother, Vanessa Trump, saying that she is making progress through her breast cancer treatment.

"Obviously radiation takes a toll on your body, but she’s doing better and feeling better,” Kai said during an interview with Fox News on July 16. “She’s been a little tired, but she’s a fighter.”
“If anyone can go through it, she’s definitely… she’s a fighter. She’ll be fine,” she said.
Vanessa Trump, President Donald Trump’s former daughter-in-law, announced on social media on May 20, 2026, that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.  In the Instagram post, Vanessa wrote that she was working with her medical team on a treatment plan. She also revealed that she had undergone a procedure earlier that week and asked for privacy as she focused on her health and recovery.

Kai Trump has shown support for her mother, describing her on social media as the "strongest person" she knows.

Vanessa's former sister-in-law, Ivanka Trump, was one of the first to extend her support, responding to the news with: "Praying for your continued strength and a swift recovery. Love you mama."

In her latest update in June, Vanessa shared that she was recovering from surgery and that she would soon be starting her second stage of treatment, saying: “Sending love, strength, and hope to everyone fighting this battle.”

Breast cancer affects about one in eight women in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. In 2026, an estimated 321,910 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.  It remains the second leading cause of cancer death among women, but has emphasized that early detection can make a life-saving difference, with a five-year relative survival rate exceeding 99 percent.

Vanessa was married to Donald Trump Jr. for 13 years and they share five children together.

Since 2025, the 48-year old former model and actress has been in a relationship with golf legend Tiger Woods, describing him as her “strength” during her journey, along with her family and closest friends.

According to the American Cancer Society, the median age that women are diagnosed with breast cancer is 63, but cases in women under 50 are increasing. The increase has been attributed, in part, to early detection and improved technology. Changes in reproductive patterns—including later age at first birth, fewer births, and shorter durations of breastfeeding—have also been associated with modest changes in breast cancer risk.

The trend has prompted doctors to encourage younger women to get checked sooner rather than later.
