The former model had accrued over half a million dollars in debt, including hundreds of thousands on several credit cards, the Blast reported.

According to court documents, Heatherton filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy earlier in 2019. The former model listed $6,465.57 in assets, with $560,242.13 in liabilities.

According to the news outlet, Heatherton’s average income per month is $1,089.91, and out of that amount, $221 from came from friends or family. She said that her monthly expenses came to $1,074, which left her with very little left over.

According to the news outlet, Heatherton made only $2,820 so far in 2019. Blast reported that the former model made $226,596 in 2017, and then around $18,000 in 2018.

According to the documents she filed, she listed her most expensive property, and out of what she owned, there were a few expensive items, which were: $750 worth of electronics, a $995 vintage Japanese jacket, $500 in other apparel, and a $945 Jennifer Meyer diamond letter disc necklace.

The Blast reported that most of her debt came from a line of credit she opened before she started dating DiCaprio. The court documents stated that Heatherton took out three separate credit cards, all of which accrued some debt. She owned $11,514 on one card, $9,485 on another card, and $194,602.49 on a third card for a total of $215,601.49 in debt. She also owed some back taxes to the state of New York, which totaled to $41,000.

According to the documents, she also owed $201,000 to City National Bank on a line of credit. She also owed $100,000 in legal fees during a lawsuit with a previous business partner, Clare Bryne. Bryne sued the former model for $10 million in 2017 when their plan to launch a sportswear collection was never put into action.

People reported that Bryne claimed in October 2015 that the former model abandoned the project without any notice or reason. Earlier that year, Bryne was working as the former model’s personal stylist for about nine months helping her coordinate her appearance on several occasions such as events, campaigns, and appearances. After working together, the two decided they were going to start a clothing line called RetroActive.

The former model also made headlines in 2018 when she sold her condominium suite in Manhattan for $2.68 million. Women’s Wear Daily reported that the condo suite had previously housed celebrities such as Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. She bought the suite back in 2012 for $1.7 million, and according to the media outlet, she completely renovated the suite so that it would include a sauna, a custom Japanese soaking tub, a steam shower, and a new kitchen.

However, in 2016, she was sued by her neighbors for making too much noise, and she had been trying to sell it ever since. She had learned, according to the media outlet, that her work on the suite didn’t necessarily make it easy to sell, as she had initially offered the suite for $2.85 million. When that didn’t work, she even tried to offer it as a rental at some point, at the rate of $15,000 a month.

According to People, Heatherton and DiCaprio started dating back in December 2011 and split up in October 2012. The news outlet reported that the two broke up on good terms, and remained as friends when the breakup happened. A source told People that “[the] timing was just off.”
