More than 84,700 children's toys sold at stores across the country have been pulled from the market, federal safety regulators announced on Thursday. The products pose a potentially fatal risk to young children who could swallow the batteries inside them.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that ABC Trading Inc., based in Vernon, California, is recalling three toys—toy headbands, electronic pet cage dinosaur sets, and electronic pet cage bird sets—after determining the items violate the federal mandatory safety standard for toys.

The danger lies in small button cell batteries embedded within each toy. The battery compartments can be easily opened by children without the use of any tools or special effort, allowing curious kids to access and potentially swallow the batteries. If swallowed, button cell and coin batteries can cause internal chemical burns, serious injuries and death, the agency said.

The three affected products include a pink bow toy headband with white polka dots (model 6300RP) that activates LED lights with a small push button; a silver plastic cage toy containing a red dinosaur figurine and a yellow egg (model 8266/ZH998-22); and a pink plastic cage toy with a blue bird inside (model ZH998-23).

All three products were imported by ABC Trading Inc. and manufactured in China. They were sold at TOYZ and Joissu Product stores nationwide from November 2022 through October 2025, priced between $5 and $9. No injuries or incidents have been reported so far.

The CPSC is urging parents and caregivers to immediately stop letting children use the recalled toys. To receive a full refund of the retail price, consumers must take a photograph of the discarded toy in the trash and email it to [email protected]. The agency also noted that button cell batteries are classified as hazardous materials and should be disposed of or recycled in accordance with local hazardous waste procedures.

Consumers can reach ABC Trading toll-free at 323-581-3688, Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. PT, or visit the company's website at www.abctradinginc.com and click "Recall Information" at the top of the page.

Federal regulators also announced a separate recall on Thursday of products carrying risks for children. That recall involves nearly 9,700 portable hook-on chairs sold by PandaEar, a seller based in Lake Dallas, Texas, and Rockville, Maryland. Those chairs were found to violate the mandatory safety standard for portable hook-on chairs because their crotch restraints can be detached without a tool, creating a risk for fall that could result in serious injury or death for infants. The chairs were sold exclusively on Amazon.com from February 2022 through November 2025 for approximately $25 each. No injuries or incidents have been reported in connection with that product either.
