Phoenix, AZ—A 29-year-old homeless woman is accused of stealing an ambulance and crashing it into a fence near 9th Avenue and Jefferson Street early morning of Aug. 7, Phoenix police say.
According to Phoenix police, Kimberly Vasich allegedly stole an ambulance near 19th Avenue and Pierce Street around 1 a.m.
Police say Vasich allegedly climbed over a fence and into a Phoenix Fire Station to steal the vehicle.
Vasich allegedly drove the stolen ambulance for several miles without yielding to police, despite their repeated demands.

Police say Vasich eventually collided with a chain link fence near 9th Avenue and Jefferson Street, where she was taken into police custody.
Spike strips were also deployed by police to stop Vasich from driving any farther.
No police or emergency personnel were injured.
Vasich was booked into the 4th Avenue jail for charges of Criminal Trespass, Burglary and Theft of Means of Transportation.
