The Midland Police Department announced that the active shooter in Odessa, Texas, was shot and killed at a Cinergy movie theater on Aug. 31.

Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke says that at least 21 people have been injured by gunfire and five killed.

“Something that I want to point out is that this is not your typical active shooter, it was more of a … mobile active shooter which made things increasingly more difficult for our law enforcement,” a spokesperson from the Odessa Police Department told Fox News.

The police department said they believe there were two shooters in two separate vehicles: a gold or white colored Toyota truck and a USPS van. Police advised people to stay away from TX-Loop 250.

The University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) said on Twitter that the university went into lockdown because “officers are looking for suspect in shooting in the area of UTPB.”

Police said in a recent update that “there is no active shooter at this time,” adding that they are still investigating reports of possible suspects.
