The San Francisco Giants are set to host the 2028 MLB All-Star Game at Oracle Park.

The league and the team made the announcement Friday. It is the first time the Giants have hosted the Midsummer Classic since 2007, which turned out to be the last career selection for franchise legend Barry Bonds. The game was hosted in Philadelphia this season, in honor of the 250th anniversary of American independence, and will be played in Chicago next year.

“The San Francisco Giants are incredibly honored to host the 2028 MLB All-Star Game at Oracle Park,” Giants president and CEO Larry Baer said in a statement, via the Giants' official website. “We’re thrilled to welcome the baseball world to San Francisco and showcase our city, our organization, and our incredible fans. We’re grateful to Major League Baseball for this opportunity and look forward to creating an unforgettable All-Star experience for fans from San Francisco and around the world.”

It will be the fourth time the team has hosted All-Star Week; the last time was in 2007. The game—a 5-4 win by the American League—was highlighted by Seattle Mariners outfielder Ichiro Suzuki's inside-the-park home run in the top of the 5th inning. Los Angeles Angels slugger Vladimir Guerrero won the Home Run Derby; the World Team won the Futures Game 7-2.

The Giants only sent one player to the game: outfielder Barry Bonds. It was Bonds's 14th All-Star selection, and as it turned out, his last; he retired after the 2007 season. He had two at-bats in the game, but did not register any stats in the game.

“With its passionate fanbase, world-class ballpark, and rich baseball history, San Francisco will be an outstanding host for All-Star Week, which culminates in one of Major League Baseball’s best traditions, the Midsummer Classic,” MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing the excitement of All-Star Week and the celebration of baseball to the Bay Area.”

The 2026 All-Star Game was hosted at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence. It was the Phillies' fourth turn at hosting, but the first since moving to CBP in 2004.

The American League shut out the National League 4-0; New York Yankees outfielder Cody Bellinger had the play of the game with a two-run RBI single that put the first runs on the board. He won MVP for his efforts. The AL also defeated the NL, 6-1, in the Futures Game.

St. Louis Cardinals right fielder Jordan Walker won the Home Run Derby, defeating Phillies slugger Kyle Schwarber 12-11 in the final round.

Next season, the Midsummer Classic will be held at Wrigley Field in Chicago. It is the first time the Cubs have hosted the All-Star Game since 1990.
