Shen Yun Performing Arts delighted audiences at Proctors in Albany, New York, on April 22 and 23. The company brought tales from ancient China to life through classical Chinese dance and music.

“It’s dance with a purpose, and it really is meaningful. And you can feel that,” said Alan Fliegel, a former business owner. “I like the Monkey King, and I used to read a lot of the mythology, and it captured it. It went from reality into the magic of the kingdom, and it was just unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was just unbelievable. It made me be there.”

“It’s just beautiful. It’s fluid, it’s precise, it’s so well choreographed. And I was thinking, I was noticing that they’re always smiling, and that really makes a big difference. It really conveys a lot,” said Thomas McCann, a former deputy internal control officer.

“I love the background. Very pretty in the costumes, and the choreography is phenomenal,” said Greg Voght, a former business owner.

“Very beautiful dancing and very artistic, and seems to reflect spirituality very nicely,” said Peter Howard, a former environmental engineer.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of authentic Chinese culture and values that were once believed to be inspired by the Divine. Shen Yun began touring in 2006 and now has 8 companies touring the globe simultaneously, bringing an all new production every year.

“I loved it. It was so beautiful, and it just made you go back and think more about the traditions of the Chinese. And I thank you all for bringing it forward to us. It’s beautiful, that’s beautiful and inspiring,” said Laura Voght, a former analyst. “Inspiring because you saw the traditions and the stories of the time and how it came forward, and it’s still today. It is still today. So it was inspiring to look forward to what may be in the future.”

“It was all just amazing, gorgeous. All the colors, every color, from the beginning to the end. It was mesmerizing. You just couldn’t stop watching it,” said Lynn Fliegel, an artist.

“It’s just exquisite. The costumes are beautiful. They are on point with all of their movements. I would say, definitely go see it,” said Chris McCann, a former human resources director. “I think it’s great. They’re doing an excellent job. Keep doing it and take it all over the country, all over the world.”

Shen Yun will be performing at the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo in San Luis Obispo, California, on April 29 and 30.
