Shen Yun
Shen Yun Performing Arts took the stage at Toronto’s Four Season Centre. The company presents a night of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture live on stage, conveying the richness of ancient Chinese traditions.

Madison Kvaltin, HR Program Coordinator & Miss Universe Canada 2023, said, “This is my first time for the performance and it was incredible. You learned so much throughout the process of the history of Chinese dance. I thought that was really beautiful.”

Sandra Somerville, a Toronto resident said, “It’s an amazing experience. It shows the history of China for the last 5,000 years, which I did not have any idea about. And the colors are amazing. I’m enjoying it so much with my family.”

Stefan Juzkiw, a managing partner, said, “The performances are outstanding. The music is very warm and calm and you can feel the culture, the rich Chinese culture, and it’s a good event.”

Audience members praised Shen Yun’s artists for their artistry and dedication to the arts.

Ms. Kvaltin added, “I think all the artists were divine. I think that’s a great word to use. Everything was magically put together and I could only imagine the effort and talent that goes into the behind-the-scenes to learn and create a masterpiece like that.”

Dawn Britton, associate director of Engineering Outreach, said, “We were so impressed with all the different styles that we got to see this evening and the artistry. And of course, the musicianship was wonderful. ... It was just wonderful. The whole thing.”

An audience member felt the importance of the moral principles that the performance was conveying. Brian Crombie, a talk show host, said, “I thought the whole connection back to the faith is interesting. And the persecution in China, I think there’s a beauty to it and there’s also a message to it. And that makes it wonderful. Truth, compassion, and tolerance are pretty good principles. I think that’s pretty fantastic. And those are things that lots of us could and should live by a lot more often, there’s no question. Compassion to me speaks a lot. And I don’t think we have a lot of compassion in this world today. I think the idea of tolerance, we don’t have a lot of tolerance. We could not only tolerate everyone else, but celebrate everyone else. And the truth is pretty good. So I think the principles are worth celebrating.”

Shen Yun will continue its performances in Montreal from April 9 to April 13 before returning to Hamilton from April 15 to April 16.
