They watched Shen Yun at the Royal & Derngate on Feb. 17.
“It's been a mesmerizing, magical hour. Some things really struck home to me tonight, but I've been absolutely blown away by this,” said Northampton Mayor Paul Joyce.
His wife, the Mayoress of Northampton Mylissa Joyce, said she was moved.
“I had a smile on my face the whole time of watching it. It is so colorful and the music and to think that it's actually a full orchestra down there making that music, it's beautiful,” she said.
Shen Yun’s mission is to revive China’s 5,000 years of authentic traditional culture by portraying stories from ancient legends to modern day dramas.
“The stories were lovely. Particularly, I enjoyed the Monkey story because I think that's something that in the UK we are used to, that story. But each story is beautiful,” said the mayoress.
“I'd say we want to see more of these shows across the country. Come back to Northampton, we want five more nights to this actually!” he said.
