Shen Yun Performing Arts opened up performances in Sydney, Australia at the Capitol Theatre on Feb. 26 and 27. In the audience was Archbishop Makarios Griniezakis of the Greek Orthodox Church of Australia, who said the performance provides an important spiritual meaning to society.

“It was one of my best experiences to attend this performance, and I would like to congratulate with all my heart, the performers and especially would like to thank them because through this performance they provide a very beautiful, spiritual meaning to our society, which is very important,” said Archbishop Griniezakis.

Shen Yun’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, which has a rich history steeped with the belief in the divine, emphasizing values such as benevolence and righteousness. Shen Yun performs story-based dances ranging from ancient legends, to those set in modern-day China.

“I would like to ask them to keep going and to keep moving, and I wish everything could be presented in China too,” said Archbishop Griniezakis. “I encourage everyone to come. I feel that everybody who comes and attends this performance will leave this place richer.”

Danny Eid, a lawyer, said: “I think everyone should fight for traditional culture. In this case, the Chinese should do that. Absolutely. Absolutely. Break communism. Bring on beautiful traditional culture.”

“It is important, according to my humble opinion, because they provide very beautiful values, they provide unity, they provide faith, love, hope and this is something that sometimes the contemporary world doesn't accept,” said Archbishop Griniezakis. “Through this performance we can realize that there is something beyond this world”

Shen Yun continues its tour in Gold Coast from March 12 through the 16.
