Shen Yun Performing Arts took the stage at Venue Cymru in Llandudno on Feb. 14 as part of its 2026 UK tour.
Among the audience was the mayor and the mayoress of Llandudno.
“It is absolutely superb in terms of choreography, the colors, the costumes, the movements, the fluidity, the orchestra and the combination, the timing of the music and the way the dancers move,” said Mayor Antony Bertola.
“I think the techno side, the graphics are fantastic,” added Mayoress Carol Marubbi. “The costumes are beautiful. There’s so much [vibrancy], the colors, and it tells the story, and it tells it so well, and I’ve just had a great afternoon. It’s wonderful.”
“I felt a bit emotional, really, because this is what really happens in some of the parts and knowing the story of China and you just think they’ve had to come out of China to be able to do these things. We don’t realize how lucky we are in the UK or other countries. So it was beautiful,” said the Mayoress.
“I think if people understand each other and have a sensitivity about people’s feelings, it creates a better atmosphere in the world today. I mean, that’s what’s particularly good about theater and this particular show is that it gives people an opportunity to inform others in the audience,” said the Mayor.
“This particular performance and show tells you about the human nature of people and what they’re capable of doing and how kind you can be to each other, fostering harmony, friendships, and looking after each other,” he said.
China’s traditional culture is said to be divinely inspired. Shen Yun aims to show that rich culture through dance and music. The mayor said Shen Yun is more than just a performance; he described it as thought-provoking.
“The sort of feelings that give you about heaven and earth, and hopefulness and appreciation, and camaraderie and bonding, and good to bad and bad to good. So there’s an emotional context there, which is, when I say provoking, I mean provoking to the mind in a conscious way that we’re here to help each other,” he said.
“I think that your destiny is there for us. If you’re a good person, then you’re going to get a good result about your life. And those who are bad and evil, they get their comeuppance, but they’re able to be forgiven and then understand that we need to work together in harmony,” he said.
The mayoress added, “It was so lifelike and brilliant. It’s, all I can say. It’s just excellent, really. Absolutely. I’m very impressed.”
