Shen Yun Performing Arts brought tales of ancient China to life, through classical Chinese dance and music, in São Paulo, Brazil, on May 2. The company aims to share with audiences the beauty of China from before communism.

“Simply sensational, incredible. The costumes are beautiful, the presentation is beautiful, it’s a wonderful show,” said Marta Perez, a business owner. “You all are simply sensational. You light up the audience, you bring people into the story and that is beautiful. Living this dream is beautiful.”

“It’s wonderful, truly reviving Chinese culture. The traditional costumes, the wonderful orchestra, without a doubt one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life,” said Graciele Carneiro, an architect.

“It's amazing. The colors, the dance, it's very impressive. I'm very impressed,” said Viola Fabbrini, a business owner.

Petra Pipaa, an entrepreneur, said: “I loved [the costumes]. They're very colorful, very neat, and I love the vivid colors. I loved it.”

Finding its roots in the divine, 5,000 years of ancient Chinese culture and values come to life in Shen Yun’s performances. Audience members were deeply moved by their mission and said they felt that these values remain important in today's society as well.

“In today's world, we are losing a lot of traditional values. All cultures are losing this. The new cultures are destroying the values of societies. I think it is very important that the ancient culture be brought back,” said Joselito Campos Barbosa, a business owner. “The message it brings us is really very important. I think it's more than the scenario. The scenario gives us this possibility to go back, to return to our self and rediscover ourselves, this spiritual part that we all have. So it's fantastic.”

“I thought it was really nice that they brought us this idea of being free, of cultivating all beliefs and that they could express that through dance,” said Carneiro.

Shen Yun will be performing in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on May 9 and 10.
