Marcello D’Aponte, a law professor and lawyer, said, “It’s an extraordinary show that recounts China’s millennia-old culture and deserves to be seen and shared with the world. Learning about China’s traditions helps us understand the present, the difficulties of the present, but above all, it helps us understand the millennia-old traditions, history, customs, and civilization of an extraordinary people.”
“Engaging and spectacular. Moreover, from a professional perspective, I could see the hard work behind it, because coordinating the script, music, choreography, and everything that comes with it, in short, the costumes and scene changes, was truly spectacular, truly impressive, and emotionally engaging. It was truly beautiful,” said Francesco Silvestri, a music professor and pianist.
Based in New York, Shen Yun has been touring the globe since 2006 and has expanded to eight different companies, with a mission to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture from before communism, through classical Chinese dance and music.
Mr. D’Aponte said, “I got a strong impression of spirituality and care for the individual, for emotions, and for everyday life, as well as a deeper understanding of traditions. This is a way to live the present with greater awareness, that is, to know what has been in order to pass on a message to future generations and to better understand the history of the country.”
“The message that this company wanted to convey, that is, the message of reviving tradition and showing us the beauty of their way of life and culture, was truly moving,” said Mr. Silvestri.
Mr. Silvestri said, “It is very different, very different and also complex, so I was driven by curiosity to explore the different musical aspects, especially the harmonic interweavings. I also have to compliment the conductor, because coordinating the script, the choreography, and the dancers’ movements live is truly complicated. Performing live without pre-recorded tracks is truly difficult, so I give him my compliments and my compliments to all the musicians.”
“Congratulations and compliments [to the Artistic Director]. It is clear that there is great commitment and attention, and this is certainly the result of continuous and consistent work, for which I offer my applause and recognition as a citizen, as a man of culture, and above all, I must say, as a world traveler, someone who believes that the dissemination of civilizations is extraordinarily important for the development of humanity,” said Mr. D’Aponte.
