Shen Yun Performing Arts took the stage in Montreal, Canada, on April 12, captivating the audience with its seamless blend of classical Chinese dance and a unique fusion of Eastern and Western music. With each performance, Shen Yun continues its mission to revive 5,000 years of rich Chinese culture and traditional values.

Linda Le, a dentist, said she thought the choreography was marvelous. "The dancers are really talented, and the decorations are magnificent. It’s an extraordinary show. They’re spectacular, there’s nothing I didn’t like about the show,” she said.

Laurent Mailloux, a trainer and martial artist, said, “[As an athlete], seeing the artists doing the flips and the backflips, it was all incredible, really incredible. Their flexibility, too, it takes really good physical shape for what we witnessed. [It was] an incredible show.”

Simon Marceau, a surgeon, said, “I really enjoyed it—it’s very beautiful, very refined. It’s also interesting; I liked the historical aspect and the video projection that supports the dance. It was impressive.

"Their level of skills, and clearly [they have] a lot of training. The level of synchronization and teamwork is truly impressive," he said. "The orchestra serves as both the backdrop and the essence. Naturally, our eyes are first drawn to the dance, but the music perfectly enhances everything.”

Audience members praised Shen Yun’s artists for the spiritual aspect of their work.

Benoît Girard, an artist and business owner, said, “There’s all the inner cultivation, all the discipline that goes into [the techniques], which enables them to convey better, and we see it in their gestures and the grace of their movement. It’s a journey that allows us to reconnect with who we are inside.”

Dr. Marceau added that, “The soprano was amazing. I even worried my glasses might shatter—her voice was so powerful and resonant—it was truly stunning. The piano accompaniment was also excellent and very memorable.”

Mr. Mailloux added that, “you see them doing really acrobatic things, flips, and legs going over their heads. It’s a flexibility that one may not realize how difficult it is. It’s really impressive. What a beautiful experience. It really is a beautiful experience, and taking the time to appreciate the art of other countries, especially China, which has such a rich culture. I think it’s truly worth coming to see it.”

Dr. Le added, “I’d like to say a big thank you for their work, because I know it takes a lot of effort to put together a show of this level. So, congratulations to all of these artists. I’m leaving with a beautiful memory. And I’ll definitely tell my parents about it—I’m sure it’s a show they would really enjoy. So I’ll be telling a lot of people about this show.”

The Shen Yun wrapped up its Montreal performances on April 13 and continues its tour in Hamilton, Ontario, from April 15.
