Grammy-winning R&B artist Chris Brown and rapper Omololu Akinlolu have pleaded guilty to one count of affray more than three years after what prosecutors described as a "violent attack" at a popular nightclub in London.

The Crown Prosecution Service said Brown, 37, and Akinlolu, 40, entered guilty pleas during a scheduled hearing at the Southwark Crown Court on Friday. The charges stemmed from an assault that took place at the Tape London venue in Hanover Square on Feb. 19, 2023.

According to local prosecutors, the altercation began after Brown approached the victim—identified in court documents as music producer Amadou Abe Diaw—from the dance floor. Officials alleged that Brown moved through the crowd toward Diaw before striking him twice over the head with a glass bottle.

Prosecutors said Akinlolu, who is Brown's vocal coach, also joined in the attack and punched Diaw in the head.

"They continued their assault whilst the victim attempted to flee through the club," the Crown Prosecution Service said, adding that Diaw was kicked while he was seated on the floor and unable to defend himself.

"This was a vicious and unprovoked attack by Brown and Akinlolu in a crowded nightclub," Senior Crown Prosecutor Claire Campbell said in a statement. "This kind of violence is entirely unacceptable, and the Crown Prosecution Service will work tirelessly—with the police and partners across the criminal justice system—to pursue cases like this, and prove that no one is above the law."

Diaw later sought treatment at St Mary’s Hospital for head and knee injuries he allegedly sustained during the altercation. In October 2023, he filed a civil lawsuit against both men but later moved to dismiss the case. It is unclear whether the dismissal was part of a settlement agreement.

Following the attack, Brown and Akinlolu left the country, and a warrant was issued for their arrest. The "With You" singer was eventually taken into custody on May 15, 2025, when he returned to the United Kingdom for a concert in Manchester as part of his world tour and was later released on bail. Akinlolu was charged two days later with grievous bodily harm with intent, the same charge Brown initially faced.

Both men are scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 26. Affray carries a maximum sentence of three years in custody, though sentencing guidelines can range from a fine to imprisonment, depending on the case. NTD reached out to Brown's publicist for a statement, but a response was not received by publication time. A representative for Akinlolu could not immediately be reached for comment.
