For the last two years, the biggest star at several NFL games hasn’t been Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen or anyone else on the field. It has been Taylor Swift, who has been present at many Kansas City Chiefs games to root for her then-boyfriend and now-fiancé, Travis Kelce.
Swift’s link to the NFL and her day job as a pop singer have naturally made many wonder if or when she would perform on the NFL’s grandest stage, the Super Bowl Halftime Show. It’s as much of an event as the Big Game itself, but Swift has yet to grace the stage even though Kelce’s Chiefs have been frequent participants.
Fans might assume that the NFL has asked Swift to perform at the Super Bowl countless times before, but apparently, formal discussions, or requests, have yet to happen. Not only that, but Swift revealed that if she were asked to perform at the game, she would likely say no, considering what her future husband does for a living.
Swift went into detail during a Monday visit to “The Tonight Show,” where she first stated that she never turned down an offer to perform because there’s been no official offer.
“They sometimes will call and say, ‘How does she feel about …’ and that’s not like an official offer or a conference room conversation. We’re always able to tell him the truth, which is that I’m in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field. That is violent chess. That is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous.
“The whole season I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if he was out there every single week, putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high-pressure, high-intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be?’”
Swift added that Kelce “would love for me to do it” but she is too locked in to the game to be preoccupied with her set or performance.
The performer for Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8, which will be at Levi’s Stadium, home of the San Francisco 49ers, will be rapper/singer Bad Bunny. He has his own sports ties, though not to the gridiron. Bad Bunny has dabbled in pro wrestling with the WWE, even winning their 24/7 Championship. He also co-owns a sports agency called Rimas Sports, which includes MLB clients from the New York Mets.
However, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell certainly wouldn’t mind if Swift was on stage at Super Bowl LX, Super Bowl LXI, Super Bowl LXII or any of the future games. Before Bad Bunny was announced as this season’s performer, Goodell appeared on “The Today Show,” where he was asked if Swift was invited to perform.
When asked if a Swift appearance at the Super Bowl was in the works, Goodell continued, “I can’t tell you anything about that. … It’s a maybe.”
Since Jay-Z and Roc Nation took over as producers of the show in 2019, the halftime performances have skewed toward a younger demographic. Coincidentally, the very first Super Bowl Halftime Show produced by Roc Nation also featured Bad Bunny, as he was a guest performer at Super Bowl LIV in 2020 for the main set headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira.
Ensuing performers have been The Weeknd (2021), a hip hop ensemble headlined by Dr. Dre (2022), Rihanna (2023), Usher (2024), and Kendrick Lamar (2025).
Meanwhile, Swift’s appearances at Chiefs games haven’t been quite as frequent this year, though it’s clear why she wasn’t at Kansas City’s recent Monday Night Football defeat to the Jacksonville Jaguars. She was taping that “Tonight Show” appearance in New York City on Monday afternoon, making it quite difficult to be in Jacksonville that night.
Her beau, Kelce, had seven receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown in the defeat, with all of those stats either matching or setting season highs for the veteran tight end. His Chiefs are off to a 2–3 start after going 15–2 last season. The only other time Kansas City started 2–3 with Mahomes as its starting quarterback was in 2021, and that’s the only season in the last six years that the Chiefs failed to make the Super Bowl as they lost in the AFC Championship Game to the Cincinnati Bengals.
