A Russian man was given four years in prison for an assault that was witnessed by Barron Trump.
According to sentencing remarks made by Snaresbrook Crown Court Judge Joel Bennathan, Rumiantsev and the victim—who is anonymous under UK law—had been in an on-again, off-again relationship for several months. Rumiantsev is larger and stronger than the victim, had studied martial arts, and was known to have a jealous streak and a temper.
On Jan. 17, 2025, the couple spent the whole day together, but spent most of their time arguing. At some point on the night of Jan. 17-18, Rumiantsev got drunk, then battered the victim. She sustained bruises all over her body, scratches on her hip and waist, a cut finger, and pulled hair. Then, at some point during the attack, the victim left her flat and banged on a neighbor's door, only for Rumiantsev to drag her back into the flat by her hair.
The victim placed two calls to 999, but Rumiantsev stole her phone to prevent help. At some point, the victim was on a call with Barron Trump. Trump and the victim met on social media. Rumiantsev became jealous when he learned of his friendship with the victim. In a fit of jealousy and with the phone in his hand, Rumiantsev took her phone and recorded the assault. Trump contacted police, while the neighbors approached the couple's flat and the victim hid behind them.
“I’m calling from the U.S., I just got a call from a girl, she’s getting beat up,” Trump reportedly said. He was asked by the 999 operator how he knew the victim, but initially refused to say why. After the operator argued with him for refusing the details and called him "rude," Trump admitted to his online relationship with the woman.

Complainant Was 'Leading' Trump On, Court Told
In a statement to police, Trump said he only saw a few seconds of the incident. The phone was answered by "a shirtless man with darkish hair" who flipped the camera around while hitting the woman and saying something in Russian.Ruminatsev admitted to his jealousy, but claimed he was more upset about her "leading" Trump on, the court heard.
He also said that the victim clearly showed no remorse.
"Your lack of insight and empathy was apparent at trial and is also made plain in the Pre-Sentence Report in which you continue to try to blame the Complainant for everything that has happened. I note that report writes that you pose a high risk of serious harm to future female partners."
