Rapper Fred The Godson lost his fight with the CCP virus on Thursday, April 23, after being hospitalized in New York for several weeks.

The rapper is seen in the post's picture on a ventilator to help him breathe as he was suffering from complications with asthma, as well as issues with his kidneys.
"I’m in here wit this Corvus 19," Fred wrote in the caption of the post. "Please keep me in y’all prayers!!!! #godisgreat."
"People with moderate to severe asthma may be at higher risk of getting very sick from COVID-19," according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). "COVID-19 can affect your respiratory tract [nose, throat, lungs], cause an asthma attack, and possibly lead to pneumonia and acute respiratory disease."
Fred's wife, LeeAnn Jemmott—who has yet to comment on her husband's passing—earlier in April wrote a lengthy post on Instagram that she is dealing with so much after Fred contracted the virus.
"I'm far from rude and I try to reply to all my DM's but I cannot reply to everyone asking how Fred's doing," Jemmott wrote.
The news on Fred's passing quickly spread on social media, with many stars like Fat Joe, DJ Self, Lloyd Banks, and Retch paying tributes to their friend.
American rapper Joseph Cartagena, better known as his stage name, Fat Joe, said he is in "shock to say the least," about his friend's passing.
Fred is survived by his wife and two children.
