A video circulating widely online appears to show a girl picking up a tongue depressor before licking it and putting it back where she got it from.
The video footage was reportedly filmed inside of a doctor's office in Jacksonville, Florida.
The video was later taken down from Facebook.
The outlet said some users named a facility where the incident allegedly took place and a representative responded, saying workers were trying to confirm if it did happen in their office.
During the video, a banner appears stating: "Don't tell me how to live my life." A piece of paper above the canister containing the tongue depressors states: "PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MEDICAL SUPPLIES! THANK YOU."
The footage also later cuts to three children in another part of the office with a banner stating: "When you are running late ... this is how I'm gonna let my kids act."
Christy Turner, a reporter with the outlet, said that she spoke with the mother who posted the video online.
If legitimate, the footage is the latest in a new trend of people tampering with food items and other objects.
At least two people have gotten into legal trouble after being filmed tampering with ice cream inside containers before placing them back into store freezers.
Video footage showed a man appearing to be Martin holding the Blue Bell container while keeping the freezer door open with his body. He took the lid off of the container, licked it, looked both ways, used a finger to take a little out and eat it, and licked it again.
“It was a joke with no criminal intent or activity … but I was locked up with murderers and real criminals on maxim security,” Martin said. A picture showed him smiling and holding the ice cream container.
“Who would be crazy enough to just go walk in the store you know what I’m saying and actually do that and put that back in there? I wouldn’t do anything like that,” he added.
But Commander Lonny Cavalier of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office said it didn't matter if Martin bought the container.
