The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) announced the national recall of YOP drinkable yogurt.

Concerns about pieces of plastic led Yoplait to voluntarily withdraw 200 mL bottles of some 14 flavors, according to a Nov. 22 government alert.
“This voluntary recall is being carried out as a precaution due to a potential defect in a packaging component that may result in the presence of plastic pieces in the product,” Yoplait company leaders said in a press release. “No other Yoplait products sold in Canada are impacted.”

The recall applies to YOP bottles of all flavors with expiration dates ranging from Oct. 21 to Jan. 12, 2026.

Flavors include Blueberry, Strawberry, Strawberry Banana, Birthday Cake, Vanilla, Banana, Raspberry, Peach, Yuzu Mandarin, Tropical, Mermaid Blackberry Starfruit,  Lactose Free Strawberry Raspberry, Lactose Free Mango, Yogurt Strawberry as well as five multipacks.

In response to a request for comment, CFIA officials told NTD that they conducted a food safety investigation and classified the company's action as a Class I recall to the consumer level, nationally.

A Class I recall is the most severe type, meaning that there is a high risk that eating or drinking the food product could lead to serious health problems or death, according to the CFIA website.

“The health and wellbeing of Canadians is our top priority,” Yoplait company leaders said. “We are working closely with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as well as our retail partners who have removed these products from store shelves.”

In the United States, a Danone yogurt brand faced a recall this summer due to inedible objects.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of 17 flavors of Danone YoCrunch® products, according to a July 14 FDA alert.

The Danone yogurt products were sold at retail stores nationwide and were withdrawn as a result of the potential presence of plastic pieces in the dome cap.

The recall applied to individual six-ounce containers as well as multipacks, such as YoCrunch Vanilla M&M, YoCrunch Vanilla Oreo, and YoCrunch Vanilla with Twix Candy.

In September, the FDA assigned its second-highest risk alert to 5,616 packages of H.E.B. Blueberry Flavored Yogurt Pretzels sold in H.E.B. grocery stores in Texas.

Concerns about undeclared wheat led Dollins Pecan Co. of Comanche, Texas, to voluntarily withdraw the product, according to an Aug. 29 FDA advisory.
The recall is applicable to eight-ounce packages of the H.E.B. branded pretzels with UPC Code 9787011400 and Lot Numbers 080226 and 080326 printed on them.
On the H.E.B. website, the snack item is described as sweet and crunchy mini-pretzels that are dipped in a creamy blueberry yogurt confectionery coating.
