China Greenlights Billion-Dollar Coal Mines

Beijing’s top planning agency approved three different coal mining projects Monday. They’re valued at nearly $4 billion total.

This move comes despite China pledging to peak CO2 emissions before 2030 and reach carbon neutrality before 2060.
