It would be rare to encounter some small animal on the field that has traces of being caught with a beak. Usually, one would expect a predator animal to eat whatever he catches. That seems to be not the case with this heron. He catches in this video four gophers. But he leaves two of them behind in the water, and he only swallows two of them.
Strangely enough, it can be even life endangering for a heron to swallow a gopher. Usually, herons like to eat smaller animals, or fish that would be easier to swallow.
